Guarenteed to be on hold for at least 30 minutes and then passed around 4/5 different people non of which provide the necessary information required. On one occasion I had been on hold for 1hr 10 minutes I actually called up using another phone whilst on hold to check there wasn't a problem and was advised they were experiencing 'very high call volume' I then called back again on another line whilst still on hold with the original phone and the customer service adviser was surprised to hear I had been hold for so long and put me through directly to the Mortgage Advisor I had asked to be put through originally.
The 3 mortgage advisers I dealt with all provided conflicting information which resulted in an additional 5 weeks process time. ( The additional borrowing was for building an extension and so time was vital for giving the go ahead to the builders.) I felt stress in my stomach every time I knew I had to call them for the anticipation of being on hold and being passed from pillar to post.
BoI is incompetent and I would not recommend it to anyone. A highly stressful experience and only due to the type of job I do i.e. spend a portion of my time working from home was I able to make the lengthy calls, not to mention the cost from all the time on hold.
Also I have to add that on 3 separate occasions I had arranged a call at a given time and taken time out of my schedule to make myself available and no-one called, they claimed 'they had tried to contact me' I advised that no missed calls had been received. As soon as the term has finished i.e. 2 years I will be leaving BoI never to return!
