emma.w's review of Bank of Ireland

“Worst bank I've encountered”

★☆☆☆☆

written by emma.w on 11/05/2012

Clearly Bank of Ireland doesn't understand business hours, as 10am-4pm weekday hours are totally unsuitable. The banks do not even open on Saturdays, which is ridiculous. They do not have a call centre to resolve issues with - the only method is to visit or call the branch, which might be closed due to the cushy job hours! There is no area on their website to give feedback.
I only used the account to pay my bills during my residency in Ireland, and I'm glad I didn't have to deal with them more. My account went into minor overdraft, and I was very surprised that I was not alerted to this, and had to enquire about my balance myself to find out.
The system of issuing a paper card as the most basic type of banking is another example of Bank of Ireland's lacking nature. Overall, I am extremely disappointed in Bank of Ireland's lack of customer care or thought that customers might want to bank outside these very rigid hours. Do not choose Bank of Ireland if you expect even a modicum of care or service.
