Magdalena230's review of Mothercare

“poor standard of service”

I am a new mum, since having my bundle of joy I've spent over £1000.00 in mothercare. I need to share my experience with other first time mums. I bought a mothercare pushchair, on getting it home I noticed there was a screw half out of the frame that kept catching and the sit didn't sit right. I e mailed mothercare head office but got no reply so called the shop. 5 days later I was told it was fine and quite safe so not to worry. I thought ok, maybe I'm being picky. A few months down the line the pushchair frame became awkward to push sort of stiff, the wheels kept jamming on and the tyre wouldn't pump up. So I rang the shop and they said they wouldn't give a refund but would send away for repair, only being a few months old I said I wasn't happy with this and after about 20 mins the manager agreed I could have a new one. So I headed straight ip to the shop which is 45 mins away from me. I chose a new pushchair and a new car seat as that came with the original pushchair. They didn't have either in stock but funnily enough had the most expensive ones in stock so tried to get me to have them but I didn't want them so I ordered them. I spent over an hour and a half in the shop and offered to pay twice but the shop assistant was clearly struggling so I said I must go as need to get home to feed my baby. I was out putting baby in the car when the manager comes to the door and shouts me and says you better pay now- she was really rude to me. On the Friday I was due to pick them up so went in to the shop and the car seat hadn't come so I had to buy a far more expensive one- what a surprise! So they fit the new car seat and tell me I don't need the baby support as my baby was too big for it and takes it out- I come home and read the instructions and my baby is only just over 6 months and does need the support- his head flops without it and had I had an accident on the way home well god knows what would have happened. Mothercare your advice and customer service is below poor and I will never ever shop with you again. Babies are precious and safety is paramount. They made me feel like a pain for asking questions and all I wanted was to know about what I was purchasing. Ive since had to have the seat re fitted. So do be careful.
