The Audi A2 is a luxury supermini with a reputation for super efficiency and innovation. Although a decent performing and looking vehicle - which is now highly sought after - sales were not fantastic for the A2 and it was only manufactured from 1999 to 2005. The final production was estimated to be around 175,000 units. The A2 was produced in Neckarsulm, Germany. Innovative technology in an ultra-compact format combined with extremely low fuel consumption made the Audi A2 an impressive car. It was launched on the German market in a 1.2 TDI version as one of the first three-litre cars - offering consumption of less than 3 litres per 100 km. More famously it was the first small car to be produced with a monocoque aluminium body known as the Audi Space Frame. The Audi A2s have a reputation for sturdy rather than super nimble handling but were fairly nippy. The top-of-the-range model the Audi A2 1.6 FSI takes ten seconds to reach 100 km/h. This compact racer version had a top speed of 202 km/h. A jazzy colour Storm model capped by a black roof, with black inserts in the wings, doors and bumpers was a special edition.

Fantastic car. I got the Audi A2 90bhp option from Audi on the 1.4 tdi and its much better than the standard 75bhp. Plus you still get average economy in the 60's! and I have a heavy right foot. I have done 56000 miles in just over a year. Nothing at all needed doing apart from a new wiper blade and new tyres at 50k. On variable servicing this car will do 30k between services. Plus its only 35quid to tax! Cannot sing its praises ...

I've had my car for nearly 3 years and have never had any problems until now. It sometimes does not start on the first go and then takes at least another 3+ attempts to get it started. I took it to a garage and they said they can't identify the problem until it gets worse. They recommended a clean out of the petrol tank which was not guaranteed to overcome the ...

The A2 is a groundbreaking design incorporating lots of new technology. It looks good and is built to Audi standards of finish.
Mine is the 1.6FSI - the engine is lively and returns excellent MPG (average mixed motoring 44mpg+). However, I have had a specific problem with a failed crank engine sensor which "went" on the motorway with no warning - this caused the car to stall and restart - this has caused engine management problems and a burnt out catalytic converter. Total cost of repairs ...

I fell in love with my Audi A2 from the moment I first drove it. I had changed jobs and needed a practical car that was economical, could carry all my design stuff and display equipment, my dogs and also be different enough to look at. The A2 has all of that and more the build quality is exceptional the climate control is a godsend (go for climate over air con any day) the driving position is perfect (I am 6ft 3 and it's the most comfortable car I have owned).
