I have been using SpamSieve for quite a while on my iMac at home to combat the tons of spam I receive daily (around 80 spam emails a day per account, with a total of 3 accounts in my family).
This helped me keep email out of my ipad/iphone when I was travelling as long as I left my mac on. This is quite costly and not the best method as over time the continuous heat and power consumption can prematurely age your mac and the electricity cost can be material.

SO I was looking for a service that could run as a 'task' on my Synology network drives as those are effectively always alive/on. I could not find that but found the next best thing: SpamDrain. It runs on the Trillian servers and catches Spam pretty efficiently (and efficiency improves fast). After a 3 week trial I decided that it was the better solution over SpamSieve as I had to run NO local software, keep my mac on etc and it turned out to actually be more accurate after 3 weeks:SpamSieve would incorrectly classify good emails that SpamDrain passed through and remove them to the SS folder. Anyhoo: I shelled out for 3 accounts (my wife, my personal and a shared gmail account): 14.99$ per account per year for SpamDrain standard (very few people would need the SD+ version at 29.99$ and account).
And that is also why I removed the 1 star: If you have a family with kids it becomes pretty expensive (all relative). Again, one could state that a little over 1 dollar a month per account is a great deal, but with kids etc you could end up paying 5 to 6$ month and that is maybe a little rich.
I would love to see a package feature for say 50$ a year up to 6 account or some sort of tiered pricing.

Still, I went ahead and signed up and do not regret it: muy emails are nearly flawless and I am not hogging ipad or iphone data bandwidth with downloading thousands of bad spam mails. I finally feel I am close to perfect on the solution.
If only Synology would create that diskstation app..
