“Not the best spiritual magazine (Soul & Spirit)”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/12/2012

Having read several different Mind, Body, Spirit magazines over the years, we found this (Soul and Spirit) the most disappointing. It feels very superficial, much like any other woman's magazine, but with a vague spiritual slant, like they've just jumped on the bandwagon. Most of the articles are superficial, it's full of too many frivolous quizzes rather than thought-provoking items. It all reads like any other woman's mag, with exactly the same items on superficial and meaningless relationships, celebs and shopping, but with a veneer of 'spirituality', but in reality, underneath, they're spouting the same rubbish. That said, some articles are very good, well-chosen and appropriate, such as a recent one from Deepak Chopra, and I would say that each edition of the magazine has a couple of great articles, but overall it is not worth having the whole magazine for one or two good pieces. It is also very poorly edited, and every edition I have had has been FULL of spelling and copy errors, which makes for very frustrating reading. (We bought a 6 month subscription based on having looked at one edition, but after receiving 3 we were extremely disappointed).
