  Alliance And Leicester have caused me untold problems. They too a d/d of £3500 3 times!! then told me it was my fault and charged £25 each for another 7 d/d that were returned as unpaid as I was overdrawn - hello, of course I was overdrawn you've just taken £10500 instead of £3500!.   I applied for a Loan to pay off an existing loan I have with my bank and despite having a flawless credit history / perfect match for my personal and financial circumstances as a candidate, I received an acceptance at a much higher interest rate than previously lead to believe I could have.   Santander/Alliance & Leicester are the most incompetent and obstructive organization I have ever encountered. They are incapable of handling simple processes like address changes, share sales, or transfers between accounts without making a series of basic errors. Their Complaints Procedure and ' Customer Service ' are a sick joke. I am still waiting after more than six weeks to find out how they managed to ' misplace '£40,000 by transferring it from an ISA to a non-existent ...

  totally agree with the top comment set up a joint account with Alliance & Leicester, and was geting so many passwords sent for the both of us it gave me an headache ie phone pins/passwords and then internet banking passwords which was that complicated i could not set it up at all ie passwords within passwords closed the account after they charged me fees for drawing my own money out and they come out of another account??? nightmare.... stephen hawkins would struggle setting this account ...
