Having purchased this machine which is similar to the Pixma MP495 I could not set it up wireless on either a vista based machine or a windows 7 machine. I was forced to use the USB cable which was not part of the plan. The instructions were hopeless and not very clear for wireless installation. The printer is ok on usb and this redeems it somewhat.

I brought this printer because I had brought a new laptop and wanted to go wireless. It took 6 weeks for the WiFi to work, I spent hours with two friends trying to sort this out. After many attemps of reinstalling the software it is now working, but I dare not switch the printer off incase it wont work again. Canon support took 8 days to get back to me, in the mean time we had fixed. I am disabled and going up and down the stairs to the printer left me very dispondant. Not one of my best buys!!!!
