My partner and i booked a 5 week holiday from Australia to the states and home again during October/November. Our flight from Sydney to San Francisco we sat together which was a 15 hour flight. Every domestic flight from then on we were not seated with each other (which was extremely disappointing because we booked months and months ago)
Very tired and exhausted and ready to return home on our 15 hour flight back to Australia we were told that there was nothing they could do to seat us together even though tickets were booked back in March.
Another couple was the exact same scenario and it seemed we were all put in the middle seats (the seats no one wants on such a long flight) but all in different rows.
Very very upset by this and it certainly made our experience with United airlines one to remember but not for the good things but the bad.
