“Flight refusal for non EU passport holder ”

★☆☆☆☆

My partner and I were going to fly Ryanair from Luton airport. Unfortunately for us my partner is a NON-EU national with a residence permit in the UK. We checked in only as usual and even printed our boarding passes. Unfortunately for us we did not take the time to study the ticket. If we had, my wife's ticked stated that she must get a Visa stamp from the check-in counter prior to going through security.

Unfortunately we went straight through to the security and after spending some time at the airport went to the boarding gate. We waited in the queue and once it was our turn - can you guess what happened?

Of course we did not have the stamp and extremely rude check in assistant were not willing to allow boarding. Instead she explained that it is their policy that the special person needed to stamp the ticket at the check-in counter and we had to go back and get this done there. Obviously the flight was already boarding, so we would miss the flight for sure.

After getting to the check in desk we were told that we had to follow the process and had to get the stamp first in order to board the plane. So no holiday and obviously no refund from Ryanair. Waiting from travel insurance if they will refund.

So beware if you are a non EU passport holder, you have some special rules that you need to follow with this Airline. We travel all the time in Shengen/EU area and this is the first time that we needed to get approval from the airline to fly (despite having all legal travel and residency documents). I guess this is a legal grey area, but who is going to argue with Ryanair, there is no way to even speak with them!
