I fly to the Philippines 4-5 times a year and I can tell you that PAL is a very poor airline and have the worst customer service. Flights are consistently delayed, checking-in and booking is such a hassle, flight attendants are rude, the food is horrendous, the seats are dirty and even if you fly with them often and accumulate miles in their premier program, it is incredibly difficult to use. You get no real benefit from their reward program. and lastly they are expensive compared to many other flights. The only reason to use PAL for international flights is they often have direct flights from the States to the Philippines and vice versa. Though I would recommend Cathay Pacific or Hawaiian Air. The flight is about an hour or two longer but the flight itself is much more relaxing.
