We were due to fly back from palma airport yesterday at 11am, at first everything was fine. as we had checked in online we whent straight through security with no problems. we got on the shuttle bus down to the plain only to find once all the passengers had got off the bus that we were not alowed to enter the plain.as the people by the aircraft did not speak much english no one could find out what the problem was, only that we could not enter the aircraft and had to go back to the airport. when we got back into the airport their was not a member of staff from monarch in sight. not one member of staff from the airline told the passangers what was going on. people had to preaty much drag infomation out of the one member of staff that was their, even then we couldnt get much info due to the language barrier. eventually after about 5 hours we found that their was a problem with the plains windscreen and the pilot and crew were over their working hours and we would not be flying that day. as this got passed around we found that they were giving out vouchers for food but again the only reason we found this out is because of word of mouth! eventually we were told (again by word of mouth) that we were being put up in a hotel for the night all expencise paid by monarch, and would receive more info regarding our flight later on. of course we still hadnt been officially told about this. we were told to go to a coach that would be waiting outside,and eventually were taken to a hotel at 7pm. so from the time we got to the airport which was 9am to the time we were put into a hotle it had been near enough 10 hours of waiting round with a compleat lack of comunication! when we arived at the hotel we fond that all expensise were not paid and we would have a meale and a room but the rest we would have to pay foe i.e drinks, which we had no money to purchace as we had not alowed for the extra day. this ment fron leaving the airport we only had one bottle of water that was provided with the meal. whilst at the hotel we were told again by word of mouth that we were flying at 1.15am and a coach would pik us up. at what time no one new. after dinner we were told that the flight plans had changed and we would be picked up at 4.30am. on ariving at the airport for the second time, we were not greeted by a member of staff from the airline as you would expect in such sercumstances, but we were expected to find out were we should go by our selves. when we eventuall found out were to go we were given food vouchers to get breakfast and told our flight would leave at 6.20am, we arived at the gate we were told only to find it was the wrong one, when we got to the right gate we found that their was no plane ready for us. whilst waiting at the gate the screen flashed up that the gates were now closed even thought no one had boarded as their was nothing to board, their was no staff their to speak to yet again! so were were obviously conserened that we would not be getting home!eventually we were told the flight had been delayed slightly again and we would leave as soon as a plain was ready. we finally left the airport at 7.30am. we fully understand that things can go wrong with airoplanes and that delays can be expected somethimes, but this was just rediculous. the worst part of the experiance was not the delay but the blaintent lack of comunication and the not knowing what was happening. we thought monarch prided themself on their good customer service! and to be honest we think that they should be ashmed!

Well, I was just about to praise Monarch for good service. Presumably, you wouldn't want to fly on a plane with a defective windscreen? It sounds like a pretty standard technical delay and of course no airline is going to put a bunch of british tourists into a hotel and pay their bar bills lol...
