My story with KLM is quite long so I won't write it here. However I think you can draw your conclusions as to what happened by reading the following tips:

When booking a flight with KLM - DO NOT assume that your flight will actually leave and that you will be able to get to your destination.
Do NOT assume that you will be rebooked and get to your destination on time - or even in the next 24 hours, or the next days. Do not assume that the flight you are actually rebooked to won't take countless more hours to get you to your destination.
Do NOT assue that you will be treated with kindness and offered any good service by the KLM staff. DO assume that KLM will NOT inform you of your rights (as they are entiteled to by law) and
DO assume that you will be lied to by the staff.

And most importantly IF you flight is cancelled, DO assume that you will NOT get any compensation for it.

If you really must fly with KLM, do your research and make sure you know all your rights before flying. If they say that the cancellation was due to
