I use Flybe from Southampton to Edinburgh return every week. This service is broadly acceptable - it's usually late but within half an hour - you just get to accept this. My overall impression is that there is no slack in Flybe's scheduling so a delay problem early in the day cannot be made up during the day and this then means that all customers are delayed for the rest of the day. Surely Flybe can think this through and realise that it must be better in the long run not to alienate all customers in this way.
I've seen the other reviews for Flybe and its Manchester service. This is because I've just googled for comments on it after experiencing it myself - appalling. I flew from Edinburgh to Manchester - 1 hour delay. I then flew, the next day, Manchester to Southampton. The 5pm flight was cancelled. Everyone was put on the next flight at 8.15 pm which eventually left at 9.40 pm. I did not enjoy the 5.5 hours I spent at the airport waiting for a 40 minute flight. There was, however, plenty of time to get feedback from regular passengers on this route that made it clear that this was a frequent occurence. There was no explanation for the cancellation of the 5pm flight - having read the other reviews it looks like Flybe were just consolidating passengers onto the later flight to save money.
