My son bought a watch Duty free on a flight from Abu Dhabi to Sydney - the watch cost $230 - and once he got it, we could not get it to work - it was one of those strange digital ones. We called the flight attendant over and they tried, then the Duty Free office was called back and we were told that we could not get a refund from her, we had to wait and send it back to the Etihad office in Sydney - well that was over 2 months ago. I have heard NOTHING. I have written several times and I get the occasional "out of office" reply - that person can't even get his forwarding co-workers address right as I tried to write to her and it bounced back - once I looked at the address, the guy didn't even spell Etihad correctly in the link - how bad is that.
Flight was ok - but their policies leave a lot to be desired. Lesson learned - NEVER BUY ANYTHING ON ANY AIRLINE DUTY FREE.
