“Flight cancelled for no reason”

Our children were supposed to be joining us for Christmas in Madeira, but on reaching Gatwick airport were told that all flights were cancelled because of strong winds at Madeira airport. News to us, because although it was a bit breezy in the morning, everything was still by late afternoon. And EVERY flight run by EVERY airline except Easyjet took off and landed as normal.

So why did Easyjet cancel these flights? And why did they pretend that there were problems with the weather when there weren't? To put it mildly, it doesn't inspire confidence in Easyjet's competence. I certainly won't be rushing to use them again!

We were on this flight too. It was disgusting service. We were given 2 options ,either to stay at The Hilton till flight left on 26.12.2012 or cancel and a full refund will be given. We chose to cancel ane Easyjet are now refusing to refund us saying it was rescheduled so refunds not being given.Please let us know if anyone heard this and if they remember the Easyjet representives name as we need as much evidence to try and get our money back.
