my travel partner has sciatica. I paid £150 extra to book two seats with extra leg room on our 10+ hour flights so as to hopefully alleviate her discomfort. On our outward journey, we didn't get the seats I paid for with no explanation why and were given ordinary middle of the cabins seats. Our return journey was even worse - we got the seats I paid for which were right next to the toilets. The whole plane stank as soon as we boarded and the smell got progressively stronger the nearer you got to the toilets. The smell of stale urine was overpowering and got even worse every time someone opened the toilet door - which was more or less constantly throughout the entire 10 1/2 hours. To top it all, the on board entertainment system must have been about 20 years old. Once the films had started there was no way to rewind to the beginning, or pause. As we had no idea when the films started, or what we were watching, the whole thing was a farce and unwatchable. 10 1/2 hrs with the smell of urine and no entertainment is not what you expect from our national airline. The smell of stale urine does not appear from one flight, it builds up over a period of time. This plane was unhygienic and antiquated and I paid £150 extra on top of the already expensive flight, for the privilege. BA offered me a £50 voucher towards my next flight???? ha ha
