I purchased a Preferred Seat for the long 10 hr flight from Paris, France to Dallas, TX thinking there might be something preferable about it like a little extra legroom or something. Wrong. I wish I had known "Preferred Seat" is only a scam for AA to get more money for nothing. I had the worst seat of any around me. Less leg room than others, and a plastic piece attaching the exit seat in front of me to the floor prohibited me from extending my leg at all. Flight attendants agreed it was a ripoff but they couldn't do anything about it. Customer Service will not refund my $$ because they say there are no promises when you buy a Preferred Seat. In other words, it's a scam and once they get your money, it's gone. Beware of the American Airlines Preferred Seating Scam. Hang on to your wallets.
