Hello I Bought a new Vmx called valuemax air rifle in .22 made by Webley.
The rifle was good from the box needing just a couple of drops of oil in the trigger group as it was a bit gritty.
The rifle is a good full size and weighs 6.4 lbs or 2.9kg so a mid weight rifle features very effective tru glow fibre optic sights so relatively easy on open sight shooting!
The stock is a sturdy polymer stock some reports a abs content but it gives a traditional good balance to the rifle and is weather proof mine is a fetching green.
The rifle goes hole on hole at my 13 meter garden so I suspect accurate as anything else in this price range and as accurate as many more expensive rifles reportedly.
The safety is great on your thumb mounted on the rear of the action auto and resetable a useful ergonomic feature, the gun is the same as the Hatsan striker I'm told but with a synthetic stock and stamped Webley.
The lube was fine out the box greased etc so better than the Hatsans I've owned in that respect and maybe the hatsan stock (wood) would fit?
Now the trigger group is basic and not the quattro??? anyway this is the only niggle with a great value gun I bough at £135 in London ( Woodys).
To improve matters I invested in a Brooklands tuning shop (Welsh Willy's)cnc 2 stage trigger at £30 pounds transforming the rifle to a much lighter pull and adjusted for a lot less 2nd stage which was the problem on the original trigger!!!
However in doing so I looked at the trigger mechanism and found the adjuster screw for 2nd stage conservatively short so of to the shops £1.50 bought me some M3 8mm allen headed bolts (originaly 6mm)which I fitted in the adjuster screw thread, now I have the 8mm bolt in place I have retrieved the original safe pull weight and reduced the 2nd stage to very short so quite crisp let off is achieved.
Even with the new bolt fully screwed in I found the trigger to remain safe have bashed and slapped the cocked rifle safety off quite a bit I at least am very happy it is safe and probably the best trigger mod available for this otherwise great value rifle, However please if considering this mod be sensible I cannot take responsability for anyone modding the trigger but wanted to share my fix with you all, as this cheap mod transforms the shooting considerably to the point I am very confident now of pulling same hole groups consistently, they say that a rifle is only as good as the trigger you know I agree...so to summerise A cracking full power weather proof synthetic stock, excellent tru glow sights very natural ressetable safety and a good fit to me I am 6ft1" and power 11.7ft lbs reported and seems goes very well with rws superdomes and in the real budget theme the Smk pellets are good too and almost half the Rws Superdomes price!
I fitted an 4x32m nicko sterling scope oh yes on the arrester block so no drift.
I'm really very happy with my new air rifle in .22 I just wish I'd picked up the .20 but ho hum!
