“Serious about shooting!”

Written on: 11/08/2012

I have recently purchased the Hatsan AT44 10, synthetic thumbhole stock in .22. I have owned many top quality springers in the past,Wow i am impressed with this kit, fitted to my H44,10 is my Bushnell mil dot 3X9X50 scope.
Lets cut to the chase here, you can not compare a springer to a PCP,this rifle costs around £300,but what a joy,my first surprise is no recoil,so i found after zeroing at 20 & 30 meters i was achieving excellent grouping the size of a 2p,the overall look of the gun is slick & handsome,at first it felt heavy but as i continued plinking the weight became less noticeable,i was shooting 7 grain wasp & 15 grain accupell pellets. From a charged 200 bar,my first 50/60 shots were doing serious damage to my wooden target, the pellet feed is smooth & the rotary system lets you fire at a pace seldom seen in springers, the side cocking lever is crafted very well & adds to the look of this stunner,i adjusted the two stage match trigger so it was lighter than factory set,the gold plated trigger is sweet,& even without a silencer this fires quiet.with my silencer its just a pop.personally i prefer it without a moderator it sounds crisp on discharge.
I will also buy some 10 grain crosman premier pellets,in my opinion this rifle likes a medium weight pellet, the accupells were nice, but the wasps just flew and exploded on impact,at the shop when i bought her she was put on the crono with two full clips 20 pellets.11.9fps consistent. for 16 of the 20 tested & a slight drop to 11.7fps for the others.
Now i had my first real test on a squirrel who has been getting cheeky, this tree rodent steals bird food & eats all the roses, even the local cats wanted to kick his head in!
An opportunity presented itself for me to take a 22/25 meter shot at mr squirrel,i used the eley wasp,i was sighted for this distance so let off a sweet shot, you can always tell when you hit with a good clean shot, because you hear deep thud! What a clean kill,up in to the chest cavity.
I am staying with my new Hatsan for some time,it has looks, accuracy, bundles of hardcore stopping power, handles nice, loads pellets mega quick & sounds crisp!.
So forget all the nonsense about this being Turkish made, that very company Hatsan make some of the best shotguns in the world period.
Shortly i'm joining my local shooting club, this gun has made me want to take my shooting really serious,i love it.
