I have recently purchased the Hatsan AT44 10, synthetic thumbhole stock in .22. I have owned many top quality springers in the past,Wow i am impressed with this kit,fitted to my H44,10 is my Bushnell mil dot 3X9X50 scope.
Lets cut to the chase here,you can not compare a springer to a PCP,this rifle costs around £300,but what a joy,my first surprise is no recoil,so i found after zeroing at 20/30 meters i was able to achieve excellent 2p size grouping,i was using accupell 15 grain & eley wasp 7g,very powerful at mid to long range,causing serious damage to a block of half inch hardwood,i think this H44 prefers a lighter pellet so i will go with crosman 10 grain.
This rifle is handsome & looks fantastic,the bluing is good & is complimented with gold two stage trigger which i have set lighter than factory,very smooth in action,the pellet feed is excellent, as is the cute side lever cocking action,this rifle fires at a rate most springer can not match.The synthetic stock feels secure & you can polish it which leaves a nice smooth look.
From a full 200 bar i shot 60 clean full power rounds,i also had it put through a crono when i bought her,two clips 20 pellets were consistent for 16 pellets attaining 11.9 fps,the others no lower than 11.7fps.
I did have a silencer on mine,but i have removed it,its quiet anyway & i like the crisp discharge note.
This H44 has it all for me,now the real test was dealing with a squirrel that's been eating my bird food & gobbling up my roses.
It was a large male tree rodent sat at a distance of 25mtrs.
My clip was full of eley wasps,my shot landed where i aimed just under the neck,you can always tell you have connected because you hear that deep thud!
This was a clean dispatch with the pellet doing hardcore damage to the left side chest & thoracic area, the pellet entrance was clean moving round the heart & lungs,then exiting lower on the right.I do hope i have not upset anybody mentioning this kill,but grey squirrel do a lot of damage,stealing birds eggs & they carry a virus that wipes out the beautiful native red of our shores.
OK back to my review,at £300 this PCP is pure class,Handsome,powerful,quiet,accurate & infinitely better than all the springers i have owned previously.The only decision i have is should i buy a 3ltr air bottle or settle for the Hatsan 3 stage pump.
As for now i'm staying with my H44 10,i absolutely love it!
