The shadow 1000 is a great air rifle for shooters that have had some experience with shooting . The shadow workes best with 4*32 scopes , 3-9*40 scopes , very important to get a gamo scope stop or have a mount that has a recoil screw ! I found that it shootes best with gamo pro hunter or H&N hollowpoint . I would recommend using the pro hunters as they provide both high accuracy , impact/penetration and range . Never spray oil in the cylinder (spring area ) of the gun , causes damage to piston . With a 3-9*40 scope , you should set in the gun at 25 m this allows you to take short range shots with 3 mil hold under and 50 and above shots with 3-4 mil holdover . The shadow can shoot up to an effective range of 65 -70 m . Its very important to clean barrel , if you shoot regularly then every month to a month and a half , I use beeman quick shot cleaning pellets , and have a .177 cleaning rod , combined , they give you a 100 per clean barrel , barrel must be lubricated after cleaning . Avoid resting the shadow on any hard surface at all costs , you will be given a really bad grouping , shotgun style , rather put your hand in a fist and lay the gun on your hand , gives you 2 cm grouping at 30m . If you hunt doves , the shadow will take down one with ease , I would recommend aiming for the neck , in between the wings on the back and halfway down wing to the birds side , they will present clean heart shots , dead instantly .
