SimonJM's review of Daystate Huntsman Classic

★★☆☆☆

“Bad Engineering”

Written on: 27/08/2014 by SimonJM (1 review written)

I bought a brand new Daystate Huntsman from Woody's in Wembley as part of a part ex deal for an AYA shotgun. First of all they sold me the wrong moderator so that was a second trip to put the glaringly obvious error right. Avoid this dealer.

Despite paying big bucks for this brand new rifle, within a few months almost all of the cheap, nasty chrome plating on the bolt had flaked off, needing sanding down with emery paper to prevent cutting your fingers when cocking the rifle.

The revolving magazine is both unreliable and unsuitable for competition use e.g. B.F.T.O. at Bisley. But as if that was not enough, the replacement part for a pellet tray doesn't fit the rifle properly ! It's like going into an auto parts dealer and finding the headlight bulb for your model of car does not fit the mounting !

Not only that, but unlike Air Arms, the company does not provide an adjustable air pressure output to allow competitive shooting at Bisley e.g British Sporting Rifle Club + NSRA moving target layouts.

They do offer to permanently disable it for hunting, though, by offering a 6 ft lb conversion for £250. More money down the drain.

Avoid this company if you want a trouble-free competitive or hunting air rifle at a very high price.
