Nicoq132's review of Daisy Powerline 880

★★★☆☆

“Powerline 880”

Bought on sale at WM. Out of the box the scope is fair at best. Recommend replacing the scope as it is a cheapie. Inconsistent groups. Stock sights offer limited adjustment.
Adding a better scope made it a good small varmint .177 within 15-20 yards. Forget using bb's. Even rifled, a bb will not be an accurate option, period! At 15 yards, hits on high power was as wide as 9 inches. Low power, closer groups.
As for pellets, what will make this gun accurate is the pellet used.
Flat nosed pellets like an SSP are not going to get the job done. Changed to GAMO RED FIRE and GAMO Rocket Air. Sighted in with Rocket Air and managed a quarter sized group at 15-20 yards. First rodent shot with RED FIRE was an immediate and devastating improvement. Popping rodents at 15-20 yards consistently.
Biggest negative is loading pellets. Slow and Awkward. Rocket Air or any pellet with a metal cone, loading is a nightmare. Magnet in plunger reverses the pellet before you can inject it into the chamber. Need patience and a tweezers to load. Sturdy gun. For the "money" ok.
