ABBA

Introduction To ABBA

ABBA are by far one of the most recognisable pop groups of the 20th century, who shot to fame with their 1974 Eurovision Song Contest winning hit, Waterloo and never looked back from there on in. Since then they went on to produce such chart smashes as Dancing Queen, Voulez-Vous and Take A Chance on Me as well as selling over 370 million records worldwide.

Not only a success in the world of pop, their music has gone on to inspire the award winning theatrical musical Mamma Mia!, and its subsequent film release, Mamma Mia the Movie which is the UK’s biggest grossing movie of all time.

The name ABBA came from an acronym of its band members, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Agnetha Fältskog, and their glam style and catchy pop tunes has gone one to spawn hundreds of ABBA tribute bands like Bjorn Again and devoted fans that would think no less of wearing some ABBA fancy dress. There have been countless karaoke releases and have even got their own edition of the popular Singstar series of karaoke games.
