my partner purchased a 2002 2.0 petrol with lpg conversion last september after less than 6 months the n/s/r wheel bearing needed changing which resulted in a second hand hub unit being purchased and the car being left on axle stands for four weeks whilst searching for a replacmentas new its £200 plus vat for a new hub plus almost the same again for a new abs sensor. low and behold the other side has now gone. It may be just me but it appears that this is a design floor that nissan are making a lot of money from as the bearing has not got an outer seal on the inboard end which allows water to enter the bearing causing it to rust and seize in the hub resulting in the scrapping of the hub as it cannot be removed. not only is it an expensive repair but also avoidable with a seal that would probably cost less than a fiver. The crazy thing is that if you look on ebay under rear hub for this vehicle it says its the same unit that fits the qashqai. I hope for nissans sake this has now had a seal fitted or the same will be happening to all the new cars. This should have been a recall issue.
