“steer clear of nissan navara”

★☆☆☆☆

My Navara is currently having its engine re-built after covering 70,000 miles. It has a full service history, but due to poor engine design and materials, the big-end shells have given way. Now requires new crank, bearings and con-rod.Build quality generally is poor. I really wish i had spent the extra £3000+ it is going to cost me to get it fixed, on a Toyota Hilux and ended up with a decent truck !!! Will never buy another Nissan.

Have 3 nissans one 1997 twin cab,two utes. All three have problems have bought 3 nissans over time and they were cheapest at the time. All three are scrubbing out front tyres. Hsve had them all aligned over and over, but doesnt last long. On farm one bump and alignment goes out. Have brought the problem up with nissan several times. Not interested. Have had enough of nissan BS. Will sell all three and buy holden as we should have done.been holden buyers up until97,2000,20004.

Yes agree 100%. have always beleived Nissan to be cheap but reliable and good value for money. NOT any more...cheap and nasty would be more accurate. Poor support from Nissan main dealer. Vehicle is not cheap if you end up spending loads more money to keep the rubbish vehicle on the road. Would not even recommend to my worst enemy to buy one....next vehicle will spend a little bit more to begin with and get a reliable motor and hopefully better main dealer support.

Have just seen your post from last year. Nissan is 2004 Deisel, not been flogged and serviced every 9,000 miles. The problem stems from design fault where the oil strainer pickup is poorly fixed to the block and relies on an O ring which often fails around the 70,000 miles mark. Have had engine re-built with an adaption from engine re-builder which sleeves the O ring and holds it in position. Poor design on Nissan's behalf which has cost me a lot of money. No help from main dealer because warranty expired before engine failed. Certainly will never buy another Nissan.....pile of excrement
