Nasty cheap bikes..had for three months and it has spent most of its time being repaired. Both wheels colapsed,, rear suspension gone,,electrics dodgey,, customer service after sales non existent But at your own peril

My bike looks quite nice, however 2 things have broken on it in the first 3 months of ownership. I approached Lexmoto whose attitude is absolutely disgraceful. In terms of customer service, it has to be the worst I received. Insulting your customers is not appropriate.

Brought in July 2015 Not even 12 months old, exhaust fell apart after about 6 weeks, they just got around to replacing it, when asked about why it took so long it's " out of stock " Various bulbs blowing, problems with starting it, now it's done 4000km approx 2500 ml & rear wheel bearings need replacing and guess what it's not covered by warranty, apparently it's " fair wear & tear " it's only covered 4000 km for God sake and only been used for commuting, customer service didn't want to know, am throughly disgusted with lexmoto & wouldn't recomend any one to purchase one

Reviewed at 3 months ownership but now owned 12 months and view has changed. Ignored swingarm bushes failing after only 6 weeks as freak failure but in last few months plenty more has failed. 1. Starter solenoid failed, then replacement failed within another 6 weeks. 2. Speedo clocks failed (never had clocks fail on any bike ive owned before). 3. Back brakes squeal. 4. Front brakes squeal. 5. Flat spots in top gear that cant be solved. 6. Rust appearing everywhere despite keeping dry at night. Ive had all repairs done under warranty free but still cost me to get public transport back and fro from dealers and time off work. Wish id bought jap 125 instead but was twice price but would of been better option. It simple buyers rule, you get what you pay for! It is as big a risk buying new chinese as buying secondhand in my opinion. Will stick with it and get my money worth out of it but would think twice about buying chinese again.

I was originally a fan. Simple, seemingly reliable and even forgave the surface rust on exposed metal, especially screwheads. However, this machine suffered a complete electrical failure that I have never experienced in almost 30 years of riding. A bike whose starter keeps trying to work, despite the engine running, then not running, then with the ignition off? Until it gave up. with only 1100km on the clock. I have yet to determine the cost, the original CAUSE of relay failure now seems bull having replaced the part. There will be some good ones in there, but I would not trust this company to make a bike that would take me from A to anywhere. Something I need to live with. I will happily sell for spares. As something to ride, a wate of space.

I'm not going to start by saying the Lexmoto is a rubbish bike. Typically being Chinese it has the same issues of old. The fit and finish is just not good enough. The paint finish and the chrome is poor and before someone say's the secret is keep it clean? should understand one thing. We have several customers CG 125's still running with 30+k on their clocks and still look good and their owners rarely ever put a cloth to them. A mate has a Lexmoto and garages it and keeps it clean, yet it still rusts. The lack of a kick starter is pain, and the kill switch operates in reverse and fills with water when it rains, corroding the switch. When we changed the battery after six weeks, we were dumbfounded to see the after thought metal battery strap made from a piece of bent steel with sharp edges. This thing end's up in my garage nearly every month with issues. I run a successful motorcycle workshop and have seen many a good and equally bad bike in the past 36 years. Fitting a bike with composite wheels is a nice touch, but Lexmoto are going to have to do better than this, hence the single star.

I have just sold my Lexmoto Street 125. I purchased it new 9mths ago for £1200 on the road. I struggled for three months to sell it and got £650 for it. "Value for money I hear you say?" as the saying goes "Nothings cheap if its rubbish". Buy a used Japanese bike.

I've had a full car and full motorcycle licence since 1976. My previous bike prior to the Street was a Suzuki GP 125cc single cylinder 2 stroke and prior to that, a Honda G5 250cc twin cylinder 4 stroke.I knew what I wanted from the moment I started viewing Lexmoto products.I purchased the Street brand new in September 2012 from Lexmoto dealer Jaccol Motorcycles of Rock Road, Torquay, Devon. At the moment the Street is used for social, domestic and pleasure purposes and not commuting. I've done just over 800km (approx 500 miles) to complete the first stage of the running in procedure. So far so good and everything is bedding in just fine. I'm 5'10" and 12 stone and my feet sit square on the deck when positioned in the seat. The weight of the Street is heavier than I expected but handles well when filtering through stationary/slow moving traffic and is easy to lean into and out of bends. The performance and fuel economy is better than I expected while keeping the maximum engine revs around 5000rpm. There has been no loosening of nuts/bolts and it's in gleaming showroom condition with no sign of rust (wiping it down and keeping it clean with ACF-50 definitely helps). In my opinion, the build quality, reliability and value for money aspects get the full 5 Stars. Torquay Devon

Owned bike for approximately 3 months now and all ok so far. Had its first service last month. Obviously time will tell how it holds out, heard some good and some bad reports. It has a 3 year warranty with it but basically only covers major electrical and mechanical faults. It is a cheap bike to buy and wont get quality of more established makes i agree but there really is little that can go wrong with these bikes and parts are cheap and easy to change. Must admit, probably age related (45) but love the look of these bikes! Will review again in 6 months, happy biking

Had this bike for just over a year now and I have never had so many things go wrong with one bike. As of 16th Jan 2013 the bike has had the following parts replaced: 4 solenoids, 2 petrol tanks(original one leaked), 2 sets of clocks(advised to replace by Lexmoto but replacement was just as bad), 1 speedo cable (original snapped) and 2 new fuel filters as well as the usual oil changes and chain replacements. If your looking for a cheap reliable motorbike then look elsewhere. Oh yes its cheap initially but it'll cost you a lot more in the long run getting it fixed even if you do all the labour yourself. The list of current faults with my bike are: front disc warped, rear brakes hardly working and make very loud noise, swing arm is not straight (manufactured that way) so trying to align the rear wheel is horrendous, steering bearings need tightening yet again, fuel is leaking out of the carb if fuel tap is not switched off (fuel float valve spring knackered), mileage on the clocks is not right and miles are clocking up way too many miles too quickly. Constantly have to strip down the carb every 2 weeks to clean out all the gunk that has blocked the main jets. The amount of maintenance it requires is absolutely ridiculous and more than destroys the reason why you would buy it. Horrendously bad build quality. For god sake, do yourself a favour and buy an old Honda or Yamaha and steer clear of this bike. If you buy one you will regret it.

Oh and I forgot to say that coming home this evening the rear end of the bike felt weird like I was riding on ice, so I pulled over and put on centre stand only to find the rear wheel was actually moving from side to side as if the bearings were totally destroyed. Had no choice but to continue the ride home at 20mph. Not looked at whats wrong yet, just parked it up outside in hope that someone steals the wretched thing.

I've had this bike now for 2 months and it's spent more time in the garage where I bought it from than in my own garage. It's had 3 petrol tanks, two of which were the ones that leaked and then just the other day it broke down at the side of some dual carriage way where it just wouldn't start at all no matter how many times we tried and the carb was fine the fuel flow was fine we don't know what was wrong with it. Everything that's gone wrong with it seems to be related to fuel. Don't get me wrong it's a good bike other than the problems mentioned above but in two months to have all of that go wrong, i just wouldn't recomend it to anyone

Have to agree, I bought two for my business earlier this year and both have an identical problem, if you rev the bike over 4000rpm when releasing the clutch it bites violently causing the bikes to lurch forward.
There is no other real faults I've noticed and if it was on just one of the bikes it wouldn't be so bad but both bikes with the same problem is too big a problem to ignore.
Unfortunately the dealer Bikingdirect have been no help what so ever and it looks like I'll have to pay out for another dealer to repair these.
I definitely would not recommend these to anyone.

hi, you have problem shorted it out now but with the randomly cutting out its the lecy kill switch on the side stand i had the same problem with my street 125 all i done was hard wired it so it was constantly live and its been fine every since hope this helps

the build quality is rubish i have had one for six months and have had problems with starter relay, indicators, main electrics, speedo and the sump. it cleaned and serviced reguly and coverd over a night but it is still somehow verry rusty. but it is comftortable and easy to ride and also quite nippy as far as cheep bikes go

I had a Street 125 previously which gave me no problems at all.
I purchased a new one a few months ago and though I've not had any of the problems you mention, my clutch bites violently if the revs are over 4000rpm.
The dealer Bikingdirect claim there is nothing wrong with it and have washed their hands of the bike.
My bike is only a few months old but it looks like I may have to order a new clutch assembly or pay for another dealer to repair it.

Hi All Collected my Lexmoto Street125, first impression is a nice sized 125 as I am not the smallest of build ;) First day of ridding it was raining, but the bike held the road well with plenty of grip. Even when I went over a large diesel spill on a roundabout. Brakes seam to be good, back brake is a little light but when applying both brakes. The back dose not lockup which I found to be rather refreshing and nice :) still running the engine in so still only running at 50 mph, but it pulls well through all the gears on the flat and up hill. Covered 100km on the first day in the rain picking bits up and getting a feel for the bike. Second day covered 180km with only 3 stops (coffee, fuel and a glass of coke) the ride was good and very enjoyable :) I have not ridden a motorbike in over 18 years, except for my CBT a few weeks ago. But this bike brings back a lot of good memories and the fun of riding a motorbike. Gear selection and clutch were a little bit clunky to start with, but seem to be getting a lot smother as everything is bedding in :) As for fuel ? Still running the engine in but so far at 180km, I filled up with 4L of fuel to top the tank back up to full :) The nice little extra features that come on this bike, Gearshift Indicator always good to now what gear you are in on a new motorbike after not ridding for a long time or as a new rider. Also the hand grips have metal end bump/caps, I have seen these being sold as after Market fittings for other bikes. But come as standard on the Street25. Bad points so far and for me these are not deal beakers as I was expecting a few minor issues. Bodywork on the back of the bike (plastic parts) need to be adjusted as they are slightly out of line, just the way they were put on. Not a big fix, just need to get into work and get my tools. The next one for me which is the biggest issue is the clutch leaver, it has exsive play up and down, looks like there is a washer missing, as before once I get into work I will fix this. But the clutch still works fine as it is. The tool kit that comes with the bike ? Well most of it is in the bin now, popped down to TESCO and picked up all the tools I should need to fix any small problems without to much difficulty. Also spare bulbs, most can be got from any car parts shop, but the main head light 35W are a lot harder to find, so make sure you pickup a few when you get your bike as you will need at lest 1 spare :) All in All, I am very happy with my new motorbike and am looking forward to using it to get to work on and also at weekends for a nice ride :)

I paid £1200 OTR for my black Lexmoto Street. As the Japanese bikes I looked at were two and a half to three times the price and having read up on Chinese bikes I decided it was worth the risk. It's generally quite large for a 125 with a 17 litre (3.74 gallons) petrol tank, so does well over 400 miles between fill ups. The build quality and finish, whilst not quite up to Japanese standards seems failry good. There's very little chrome etc making the bike more practical for day to day use, than say a cruiser. The riding position is comfortable and slightly lean forward with fairly low set bars, particularly useful at higher speeds. It's nippy up to 55 and then like most 125s starts to run out of steam a bit, topping out about 70. The engine (K157 FMI) is a copy of Suzuki's OHC GS 125 unit and is used in several other Chinese models. Reliability in the short time I've had it has been fine and so far I'm satisfied with my purchase.

i had a shot of a street when my vixen was getting a service and i was so impressed - i have ordered one for myself!

There has been a general improvement in the quality and build consistency of Chinese bikes over the last few years but some models are clearly better than others.
Research on the internet before purchasing. Also, buy a known brand with proper importer, dealer, spares back up like Lexmoto. Finally, some Chinese bikes are getting too expensive - near the £2000 mark - I'd steer clear as it defeats the object, seeing you can get a Honda CBF 125, for example, for £2500.
The Lexmoto Street and Vixen models at about £950 - £1300 are the best bet in my opinion as they're known quantities and appear to have good reputations for reliability etc.
My 'Street's' done over 1000km in three months and I'm satisfied so far.

I have had this bike for 2 months and have done 1200 miles so far, A lot on a little bike in a short time but it has sailed through service 1 at 300k/180 miles and service 2 at 1000k. Starts first time every time, Fuel efficient (£17 full tank does 350 miles), REALLY cheap to buy brand new! it cost 1300 for my street and is a copy of a Yamaha YBR that is apx £2500 brand new. EASY to learn to ride, instrument panel shows which indicator light is on, which gear you are in, the clutch is forgiving and acceleration great, gets to 70 mph as do many 125's. Bad press about the Lexmotos i think has stemmed from the older models not being as reliable and people abusing the bikes and not breaking them in properly. Buy from someone who can service these bikes and check they are under warranty and checked properly before sold and I don't think you can go wrong! Happy Riding.

Clone of Yamaha YBR 125 Fracrtion of the cost By all accounts faster. I have had one for two nights when my Vixen was being serviced and have to say I was impressed with the whole package. Took to riding it like a duck takes to water! If I was buying a sportier bike than my Vixen this would be it Same as a Ybr but a third of the price, well maybe half!! I was shocked at just how fast it was and how fresh the engine sounded despite the bike having a quite high mileage and being used for cbt,s. Handling is awesome, acceleration great, and everything like controls easy to use and even a fuel guage, Another triumph of Chinese cloning!! If built properlu of course and the one Bike Smart in Aberdeen lent me was superb. Emmievixen aka Jimbo.

Did you not have warranty?

I was unlucky. This happened less than 2 months after the 12 month warranty expired. If Lexmoto want to be taken seriously they should extend the warranty to 24 months and work to get the cush drive and electric problems sorted. I was expecting the bike to need a lot of TLC to keep surface rust at bay, but not problems that the Japanese sorted out in the 1970's/80's.
